PHP has become the go-to programming language for many web developers. Its simplicity makes it an ideal language for writing anything from a small image randomizer to a full-featured CMS, and its flexibility allows it to work with nearly any operating system or database.
PHP is also the language behind some of the most popular free software Web applications, such as WordPress, Drupal and StatusNet. While there are many programming languages to choose from for the Web, PHP is without a doubt the preferred language of many Web developers.
